Clay Animation

Clay Animation is a technique that uses plasticine or clay to create an Animated piece. The Animator moves each object by hand and makes it “deformable” so they can be changed in shape at will, giving the impression of movement where there isn’t any physical motion taking place. The technique has been done with Cel Animation and Stop Motion by recording each frame onto Film or Digital Media before playing them back at over 10 to 12 frames per second in rapid succession.
The rapid movement creates an illusionary effect that tricks our minds into seeing things move when they are still, similar to what you see on TV shows where people talk. However, their lips stay stuck in one position without moving, no matter how fast everything else moves around them.
