Chuckimation
Chuckimation is a Stop-Frame Animation combined with live shots, where characters are dropped into an imagined world with unseen hands.
Chuckimations typically use traditional techniques such as puppet-making or 3D Modeling to create special effects that are difficult to achieve through computerized tools alone; this gives them added authenticity.
Chuckimation is a portmanteau of the word “chuck,” meaning to throw, and Animation.
Since 1996, Animator Ross Bollinger has been making Short Animated Videos that are entertaining and informative with his work on this new type of film known only by one name – Chucking.
In 2009, he experimented with combining live-action against Stop Motion Video scenes before progressing full force into 2012, when all aspects became thrown together at once for optimum results.
Chuckimation does not allow characters’ mouths to move usually. Still, this Animation is used with Stop Motion Animations, and objects are manipulated frame by frame to give the illusion that they are moving independently.
As with other forms of Stop Motion, the objects used do not change position from frame to frame; instead, each object’s position is recorded and played back as an Animation.
When the Chuckimation Film is played at average speed, characters are talking or moving objects.
